As the newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the World Heart Federation I am very much looking forward to working with you, especially at a time when cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are finally starting to be acknowledged by the United Nations (UN) and other key global stakeholders as a major health burden. Our mission at the World Heart Federation is to unite our members and lead the global fightagainst heart disease and stroke, with a focus on low- and middle-income countries. We emphasize this because we are the only organization that addresses CVD as a truly global issue. As a new member of the World Heart Federation, your contribution towards this mission is very important to us.
