Gliomas de bajo grado:

una mirada al tratamiento individualizado

Autores: Díaz Posada Rodrigo Ignacio, Jolianiz Roa Shirley

Resumen

Gliomas arise from the glial cell lineage from which astrocytes, oligodendrocytes, and ependymal cells originate. Low-grade gliomas that develop in the brain tend to be slow-growing. Careful management of seizures, brain swelling, and other complications with medications, combined with the timely use of surgery, radiation therapy, and perhaps chemotherapy, can help preserve a high quality of life and minimize disability. Proper management involves recognition, treatment of symptoms and surgery, with or without adjunctive therapy. Low-grade astrocytomas are found in both the brain and the spinal cord.

Palabras clave: Low-grade gliomas management recognition treatment surgery chemotherapy adjunctive therapy.
